To all those who have an interest in the Riders Del Norte. We are sorry to announce that this years (2001) event will not be held.

Since starting the Riders Del Norte in 1991, we have taken pride in the quality of our event and spent many hours on this labor of love. Therefore, this was a long and difficult decision. I apologize if the late notice has inconvenienced anyone. However, after much consideration we feel like this season is the appropriate time to take a break.

With the demise of the Colorado Off Road Point Series and our withdrawal from the Mountain States Cup Series, this is a transition year for the Riders Del Norte. For ten years we have given a large part of our time and energy to create a quality event. However, now is the time to take a recovery break, and reconsider the future potential for the Riders Del Norte. We still have a great love for our sport of cycling. So, I will not say that this is definitely the end.

We would like to express our sincere gratitude to everyone who has been involved with the Riders Del Norte these past ten years. It has been a good run and we have many fond memories. Many of you have become our friends and feel like extended family. So, there is a true feeling of loss when we realize we will not have our annual gathering.

We hope we meet again and we wish you all the best of luck.
